From Heartbreak to Liberation: A Three-Part BIPOC Gathering

with Lama Rod Owens, Dr. g, Hayden Dawes, and Sah D'Simone

Tuesday, July 5th, 12th & 19th, 2022

from 7:00pm-8:30pm ET

"Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion." - bell hooks

So many of us still find ourselves in conversations that center whiteness and white supremacy. As BIPOC people, we are often expected to hold space, perform, and do emotional labor for the comfort and security of others.

In light of all that we carry as BIPOC people, join us as we come together for a new three-part online series to mourn, process, and heal in community.

Led by teachers Lama Rod Owens, Dr. g, Hayden Dawes, and Sah D'Simone, we will explore the internal and external processes of grief and mourning, create space to channel mourning, find joy amidst grief, make self-care a part of our everyday life, discuss racial and class identity in relationship to grief, and investigate the emotional, spiritual, and ancestral aspects of this labor.

Course Themes:

Gathering to Mourn Together with Lama Rod Owens and Dr. g on Tuesday, July 5th:
Listen and learn from dialogue between Lama Rod, Dr. g and other BIPOC practitioners about grief and joy and how they work through the pain and various forms of violence we face.

Gathering to Awaken Joy with Lama Rod Owens and Hayden Dawes on Tuesday, July 12th:
We will connect with our joy through practices and opportunities for you to create artifacts of your grief (poetry, song, movement, visual art, etc.)

Gathering to Care for Self and Others with Lama Rod Owens and Say D'Simone on Tuesday, July 19th:
We will  create space to work with grief through new practices and build ways to work creatively with your grief.
